Hilletje Jans is an orphan girl falsely accused of murder in the 18th century. After years of hard labour at the spinning mill, she decides to disguise herself as a boy and get a job on a ship. There, she is finally given the respect she deserves. She fights against pirates and returns to her hometown a hero. Until one day, when her secret is discovered ...
